Explore Islam Week 2016

Explore Islam Week will take place in the week 16th February to the 21st (Tue to Sun) insha’Allah. The week consists of a variety of talks and events, and ends with a delicious free dinner.

The aims of the week are: to introduce, to further understandings of and to encourage discussion of Islam. EIW is thus an amazing opportunity for all who are interested in Islam, both Isoc and non-Isoc students of any faith or none.

Tuesday 16th February

The Pursuit of Happiness led by Timothy Winter, also known as Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad

Venue: Keyne’s Lecture Theatre, King’s College
Time: 7:00-8:00pm


Wednesday 17th February

Love in The Legacy of The Prophet, by Sheikh Babikir

Venue: Queen’s Lecture Theatre, Emmanuel College
Time: 7:00-8:00pm


Thursday 18th February

The Art of Calligraphy.  A talk and demo by Ustdadh Moustafa Hassan

Venue: Knox Shaw Room, Sidney Sussex College
Time: 7:00-9:00pm


Friday 19th February

Spoken Word Poetry Night, with Mo Writes and Sukina from “Poetic Pilgrimage”

Venue: Lucia Windsor Room, Newnham College
Time: 7:00-9:00pm


Saturday 20th February

Islam and Feminism – student led

Venue: Latimer Room, Clare College
Time: 2:00-4:00pm


Blessed are the Strangers – film screening and Q/A with director

Venue: Keynes Hall, Kings College
Time: 6.30pm


Sunday 21st February

FREE Interfaith dinner to round off Explore Islam Week 2016!
