Biographies of the Speakers:

Shaykh Faraz has a long history of championing the spread of Islamic knowledge having been a key player in the organisation of Muslim Student Associations. After his Bachelors in Economics at the University of Toronto and studying under the leading Islamic figures, Shakyh Faraz founded to deal with the urgent need to spread Islamic knowledge in a reliable, relevant, inspiring and accessible manner. In 2012, Shaykh Faraz was again selected by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre amongst “The 500 Most Influential Muslims”.

Imam Afroz Ali has travelled across the Islamic world learning from the most esteemed Scholars of our time. In addition to teaching for Seekers Guidance, Imam Afroz is the President of the Al-Ghazzali Centre for Islamic Studies & Human Development, a founding member of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change, a recipient of the International Ambassador for Peace award and is an Australian Ambassador for the Charter for Compassion. In 2012, Imam Afroz was named in “The 500 Most Influential Muslims”.

Shaykh Abdal Hakim, or Timothy Winter, has been named Britain’s most influential Muslim by the Independent. He is currently the Shaykh Zayed Lecturer of Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge University and Director of Studies in Theology at Wolfson College. He has published and contributed to numerous academic works on Islam and is a leading figure in inter-faith activity. He is well-known as a contributor to BBC Radio 4’s ‘Thought for the
